ABOUT US
My Story from site manager to living in 2 countries and exploring 6 countries in 2.5 years.
In 2021, I had the "dream" setup: a solid career as a Site Manager at 23, a steady paycheck, and a clear path forward. But I couldn't shake the feeling that I was building someone else's world while mine stayed in one place.
So, I did the scariest thing I could imagine—I quit my job, packed a bag, and headed to Canada for a solo ski season.
2.5 Years, 6 Countries, and Zero Regrets
What started as one season in the snow turned into a two-and-a-half-year (and counting!) global adventure. From the mountains of British Columbia to my current chapter navigating life and work in Japan, I’ve traded the construction site for a life on the move.
Along the way, I’ve explored six different countries, learned how to live out of a suitcase, and discovered that the world is a lot smaller—and a lot friendlier—than it looks from a desk.
Why I Started This Blog
When I first decided to move abroad, I felt overwhelmed. I didn't have a roadmap or a mentor, so I did what many people do: I paid The Working Holiday Club a premium to handle the logistics for me.
I quickly realized I didn't have to.
I created That Roaming Kiwi to be the resource I wish I’d had. You don’t need to pay a middleman to chase your dreams. I’m here to give you the "boots on the ground" advice—from visa applications and job hunting to finding the best ramen in Tokyo—so you can spend your hard-earned money on the actual travel, not the paperwork.
